My Camera or Microphone is not Working (Laptop/Desktop)

Vurvey requires a camera and microphone to respond to video questions. If your camera or microphone is not working, you will not be able to participate. If your camera or microphone is not working, first, be sure your camera and microphone are plugged in and have power (desktop users).

 

Next, check to see if your camera and microphone are working in other programs. You can typically test your camera and microphone in the settings area of your device. If your camera or microphone is not working, follow the manufacturer's guidelines to repair the device and return to Vurvey once it's working again

 

Finally, if you camera and microphone are working in other programs, but not in Vurvey, ensure that you have allowed Vurvey to access your camera and microphone through the web browser. If you see a warning at the top of the page, your browser does not have access. To fix, try these steps:

For Desktop or Laptop Computers

  • Chrome

Chrome

Click the "lock" icon in your browser bar next to the URL "respond.vurvey.app"

 

Change the access for your camera and microphone to "Allow". Alternately, you can control these settings in your Chrome > Settings > Privacy & Security > Site Settings > Permissions and choose either camera or microphone. Be sure to set "respond.vurvey.app" to "Allow". You may need to refresh the browser for the settings to take effect.

 

Firefox

Click the icons in your browser bar next to the URL "respond.vurvey.app"

 

Be sure the Permissions are not Blocked. Alternately, you can control these settings in your Firefox > Settings > Privacy & Security > Permissions and choose either camera or microphone. Be sure to set the permissions to "Allow". You may need to refresh the browser for the settings to take effect.

 

Edge

Click the "lock" icon in your browser bar next to the URL "respond.vurvey.app"

 

Change the access for your camera and microphone to "Allow". Alternately, you can control these settings in your Edge > Settings > Cookies & Site Permissions and choose either camera or microphone. Be sure to set "respond.vurvey.app" to "Allow". You may need to refresh the browser for the settings to take effect.
